'Two-Ball' with the Illinois Indians at the 2009 CABA 18u World Series in Ohio

2011 Team Information

The NY Midgets play approximately 25 league games per year, along with 3 exhibition games and frequent weekend practices.  In addition, we attend between two and five tournaments each year including one major tournament.  In 2011, we are planning to attend a tournament in Pittsburgh, PA.  In total, we expect to play between 40 and 50 games.

The 2011 team is coached by myself (NCCP Level 3 certified), my father Glen (partial NCCP Level 3 certified), Sean Usher (NCCP Level 1 certified) and the occasional assistant coach who is typically a graduated player from a past year's team.

Since 2005, the North York Midgets have the highest win percentage (season and playoff games) of all the local associations to field a Midget team.  In 2008, the NY Midgets won the CABA State 18u tournament in Michigan, finished as finalists in the Oshawa tournament, and lost only two (of twenty-four) regular season games.  In 2009, the NY Midgets attended the CABA 18u World Series in Ohio, finished as finalists in the Oshawa tournament and in the TBA playoffs, and finished in third place in the Midget AA OBA provincial tournament.  We played 61 games.

Typically, the NY Midgets sign between 14 and 16 players.  100% commitment is expected but not completely required.  I understand that there are other important goals (school, work, elite hockey) in players' lives right now.  We can discuss individual schedule needs during tryouts.

Players who played with another league team in 2010 need a release from their previous organization.  Release forms can be obtained from our Documents webpage and need to be signed by your former association.  This is a straight-forward process.  If you are in this situation please let me know.
